Cancer Control Specialist

"Informative"

What do you like about working at American Cancer Society?

"I felt like I was helping people at a hard time in their lives and gave them hope for the future and for a cure. I felt as if I was part of a work family."

What don't you like about working at American Cancer Society?

"There is an Income Development department who does the fundraising. The Cancer Control department delivers the programs and services. The ID specialists did not meet their goals, and it was not only my department that suffered, but also the people we support. In the end, none of the ID specialists lost their jobs, and it is only going to get work as the economy continues to decline. There is an imbalance between the two departments in multiple areas."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Work in the field with and for the people before making decisions and/or listen to the people who are actually working in the field."
