Altek Employee

"I was a CNC machinist - the first 18.5 years were good. The last 1.5 years there we got a lady supervisor [machine shop] who is a control freak and a liar. She hates anyone that she feels is getting to know too much. I had 19 years in and we had new people, this lady told the new people NOT TO GO TO ME FOR HELP. I called a meeting on that, she said no to my face but lucky I brought another supervisor in meeting and she then said that she knew about and already talked to the person that told me. Funny how she told me she didn't say that. Other supervisor asked the other person and he said yes, that's what she said. She told my wife not to let me work so much overtime because all I do is make bad parts. She was a lead at that time. I'm warning, now watch your back around her. The company is family owned. I would get everything in writing from them, they are known to backtrack on what they said they would offer you. Raise at times are far in between ranging for 5 cents to a couple of dollars if in the right click. I went four years without one. Last year I was told in a review I was getting one and then the lady took over and first thing she did was take it away. But I would say with the talk average is 75 cents. After 20+ years I was let go, reason they gave, Altek at this time is serving relationship at this time. I asked what does that mean, I was told: you can tell people anything you want as why this happened, and I should do some soul searching. They have done this with many people. But it also says can be hired back. For moving up you have to be in the click. I was told I was going to learn set-ups over and over but when it came time I was told - either we were too busy or now too slow and we like you to move and help in different department. When they have the right people in the right jobs it's a good place to work. But as long as machine shop has that control freak you have to watch your back every day. I'm onto big and better things."
