Advisor at University of Maryland
in Waldorf, MD

What do you like about working at University of Maryland?

"There is a great work-life balance at UMUC. Most of the managers are understanding when someone needs to take off for family needs."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"There are a lot of opportunities to advance at UMUC--if you get in good with your supervisor. You pretty much have to be best friends with them to move up. If you're not into butt kissing to move up, you should probably look elsewhere!"

What don't you like about working at University of Maryland?

"Managers show favoritism! People get promoted who don't fit the job description and those who are more qualified feel pushed aside."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would use money to give employees even small raises. UMUC spends a lot on things that other companies would probably consider wasteful. Meanwhile, moral suffers because people feel taken advantage of at times."
