"The company is not bad overall. Due to it being contract based the expectations can be unrealistic at times. And with these expectations support isn’t provided too often."

District Manager

"I have worked for ABM for the past 5 years and I have learned and grown a lot along the way. Starting from being a Assistant Manager at a high school to moving along very quickly to a Community College to where I am now at Clemson University. I feel that it is time for the next chapter into learning and growing into a field that would more of a fit for me. Have met several great people and mentors along the way."

Payroll Manager

"I've been employed with ABM for 11 years now. I find it to be a great company to work for due to the potential for growth. I started off working as a Human Resources Assistant and was promoted to Payroll Manager. In my 11 years of working for ABM, I have gained so much knowledge and experience in Human Resources and Payroll. ABM offers great benefits and on site training."

"After my hire, I was informed that there will no raise or holiday pay. I was forced to work holidays. It's mandatory. The reasoning behind it is that the company is trying to save money. We make $11.00 an hour, so I'm living from check to check."

Janitor

"Get ready for a nebulous and empty experience. If you have not been a school system janitor do some kind of research or try to be prepared best you can. Poor training and slacker managers, who don't even courtesy pick up their phone, "Oh sorry, we're no longer with the company..." or basically any situation's response. Get ready to be left in the dark; belittled by managers, lied about by school faculty and other janitors. In my experience, negative places of contract with coworkers so heebie jeebie they were the antithesis of Teamwork. Broken, damaged, awfully outdated tools and the like went unremedied as if no one had the time or money to get it done, as promised or not promised. If one lies about you a supervisor could get rather unpleasant. Or you're accused of leaving "chemicals" behind in your route, be brow beaten for it while not one ABM staffer will name what those "chemicals" were. School faculty may complain ad hoc and eventually you could be fired, unless you're smart enough to not go back. I found out the hard way it's best to not let clients put a face to the work, yours. But sometimes being seen is unavoidable, even if you start on the latest hour. They reportedly had a ton of regularly occurring no shows but there's no thank you's for not being one of them."

"This is a very unethical company in my book. From the outside it seems like a very organized and well put together company that takes care of their employees. I can assure you that that is completely wrong."

ABM Industries Employee

"After five years of working here - and I am surprised I have managed it this long - we are being 'let go' due to contract issues with the business. Only now are we being told we will get a raise. Wow, thanks! A raise just as we are getting the boot!! Communication is appalling - a classic case of 'Too many chiefs' with no one to contact when a problem does arise. Benefits are practically non-existent for both full and part-time employees. Very underhanded tactics in this decision (by both ABM and the business contract) in getting rid of us so that they can get 'real' custodial employees in there."

"Very low ethics within the administration. I have never met any of my supervisors nor get any kind of help either. Communication is very poor within the Long Beach branch."
