"Upper management does not have a marketing background or marketing in technology background and they do not provide any marketing tools/software/automation for your job. They expect you to be a creative marketing manager, knowledgeable of products with zero training, a sales manager for accounts, and as responsive as a customer support call center...all in one. So, you end up working late and paying for your own tools to improve your day-to-day. Instead of putting their hands into their pockets for software and equipment or bringing people together, they micromanage, bully, gossip, or threaten to write you up. If you ask for feedback they say "do better" or to "go ask your peers." It's a lonely stressful job with no team collaboration that will likely lead to boredom/burnout. Some stay because your accounts are generally friendly and marketing in tech is fun/challenging."
