"I've served a little over 4 years with the United States Army as an active duty soldier. Being deployed twice (Afghanistan and Kuwait) has giving me the opportunity learn more about myself as well as others. The skills I received from the military opened so many doors for several career opportunities. I joined the Army National Guard to continue learning and expanded job opportunities for myself in the future."

"It is not what you know, it is who you know."

What do you like about working at United States Army?

"The peers all understand the hell we have to deal with, with that we tend to stick together to get our mission complete."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Put your best foot forward. Be totally honest in your resume and you may have a chance. Overall, this is a fair place to work if you get with a good manager."

What don't you like about working at United States Army?

"The Old Boy Network is alive and well at the Red River Army Depot. If you come in as an outsider, you will remain an outsider. I have seen a secretary with no IT experience get promoted to IT and once within IT. Now she is equal to my pay and I have 40 years experience in computer hardware and software. She still can't tell the difference between a NIC card and a modem card. Let alone the different kinds of RAM, hardware connections, parallel or serial ports, you get the drift. It is not what you know, it is who you know."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Stop hiring your friends, stop sleeping with subordinates and stop promoting for your hidden agendas."
