"The company is responsible but greedy and very understaffed."
What do you like about working at CVS?
"I like that the environment at CVS Pharmacy is free from harassment and the field management/store teams are excellent and work well together to provide great service."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"This isn't an easy job at any level. If you aren't the cream of the crop, look elsewhere. If you are that good and want to leave behind the yelling screaming boss, the sexual harassment, and the discrimination, then try it. They don't put up with anything here at CVS pharmacy."
What don't you like about working at CVS?
"Although things are great at our level (because we make it work well) CVS Pharmacy is a green eyed monster. I know what my profit and loss statement says, and the constant budget cuts and low wages are completely unnesesary. I work 55-75 hours per week because the company runs us short handed and demands a high expectation that is unreachable for most stores. Budgeting between stores is uneven making it much harder for some locations to handle the responibility than others."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"My biggest criticism is to bring the amount of people working at one time to a more appropriate level because we generally run way too short on employees. Increase incentives and create twice a year monetary reviews for crew on the same scale the company is using now. Don't be so greedy. Focus on driving service and compliance and watch your top end sales increase instead of cutting nesesary expenses."

"The ability to drive the culture and values of my store through mentorship, development, and sales training excellence."

"Be honest and be yourself. Answer questions specifically with provide the result of that decision."
What don't you like about working at Best Buy?
"Opportunity for growth is not as present as before, increase competition among online retailers."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Continue to provide leadership with the support and resources needed to run the business."
What do you like about working at Dillard's?
"I like the ability to promote. I like to work hard and be rewarded."
What don't you like about working at Dillard's?
"I felt the sales quota for sales associates was outdated."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Revisit the sales quota for sales associates. I think we spent too much money on support help."

"Be prepared to work hard physically as a store manager."
What do you like about working at Dollar General?
"It provided employment in a down economy. Benefits were OK, and training and development of staff. It was personally gratifying to raise sales, turn a store around, and lower shrink."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Ask lots of questions upfront. Check the store physical environment before signing on."
What don't you like about working at Dollar General?
"Very long hours for store managers were the norm, and there was absolutely no work-life balance. It was difficult to get qualified help. There were lots of promises made for career advancement, but no support or mentoring from district or higher level. Store maintenance was horrible. It was not uncommon to have to deal with no AC all summer. IT and equipment problems were the norm. Sometimes it added 10-15 hours on your already long week."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Institute a five-day work week for store managers. Give the assistant manager more responsibility and chances to earn bonuses. Recognize and reward store employees."
What do you like about working at Rite Aid?
"Rite Aid allowed me freedom to run my store the way I wanted to. I got very little restriction from my boss or company and was very successful. I maxed my bonus my first year and was on track to do so again so I would say I enjoyed what I did."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Be prepared for very long and odd hours. Also be prepared for making decisions that may not always be moral."
What don't you like about working at Rite Aid?
"I don't much care for disciplining others or terminating people. I find giving someone a job more satisfying than taking it away."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Be more advocates of your hourly employees and realize that they are the ones who make it happen. As a salaried employee, I saw the other side of that."

"Lowe's was a great opportunity for me to grow my career as well as my family."
What do you like about working at Lowe's?
"Every employee is empowered to take care of the customer and do what they feel is right. If you need help, you could ask your peer and were not required to call the manager."

"Be prepared and confident. In a retail company, taking care of the customer comes first!"
What don't you like about working at Lowe's?
"The culture has changed in the past 18 months, and several tenured people have left."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"While technology is important, you cannot change your business in 12 months. Too many changes too fast are difficult for the customer and employee base."
What do you like about working at Kauffman Tire?
"Knowing that we offer the lowest prices and are giving customers a great deal."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Plan on having zero free time. You WILL work late hours. Only day you can be sure you're off is Sunday because the company is closed that day. Forget doctor appointments, or Dentist appointments. You will not be given lunch breaks, and if you do, they are only 30 minutes. Also, be prepared to be clean shaven, no facial hair, unless you want to look like a cop or child molester, you are allowed a mustache only."
What don't you like about working at Kauffman Tire?
"No break rooms. No eating on property, you must take your break in your car. Managers do not get lunch breaks. Managers work six days a week. Managers work 7a-7p everyday. If you are on vacation, they will call you in if they know you aren't out of town. They don't believe in allowing their employees to have the time off they've earned unless its justified time off only. You can't use a week of vacation to stay at home and do chores, you will be called in. Employee discount is the same as customers get with coupons. Hourly employees cannot exceed 40 hours a week, most full time are scheduled 35. Upper management doesn't care or have ever worked in the positions below them. They don't understand what its like to be me, but like to tell me how to do my job. You are talked down to and given orders...this is a practice from the top of the chain that trickles down to everyone beneath. They can transfer you without notice or concern. Just like a baseball player, if they want you to work in a store on the other side of the state, you will or you can forget about being promoted because you aren't a team player."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Listen to your employees. Have a comments box or something that someone can write how they feel about things, without knowing who wrote it. That way they won't walk around feeling like they have a target on their back. Walk a mile in our shoes and see if your big ideas are working. Just because one store can do it, doesn't mean that one store loves doing it, or it's the right answer."

"Be prepared to dedicate your life to this company.There is not enough payroll to even take a vacation."

"Advancements were rare,promoting within was rarely done..Payroll keeps reducing,sales were increasing."

"Payroll is almost impossible for some of the stores,cutting every year has been hard on management,the company sales increase every year but the payroll budgets keep going down."

"Assure this is a good fit for you and that you have the support of the management team."

"Long hours, no real bonus or commission on sales. Line staff members were very inexperienced and didnt want to be trained properly."

"More support for the store managers and techs. Less criticism."
