"I used to like a lot of what Motorola Solutions did. The budgets for technology were great at one point in time."

"Be prepared to work cheaply with little growth in engineering (non-managerial). I rarely see any promotions lately and those who are promoted usually leave after pushing their way up on the corporate ladder. Lots of turnover occurring as future projects are not forthcoming."

"Egotistical and arrogant managers on power trips especially those new to management. Too many managers and too much micromanagement now. No capital for new tech without going through hoops and multiple explanations at various levels and constant justification for every puny expenditure. No merit for many years. High health care costs. No options anymore. No restricted shares anymore. Too much politics and blame game. I cannot trust most of my co-workers. Compressed schedules are not realistic. Inexperienced mid-level managers placed over experienced engineers is killing this company. Flexible work (telecommuting) has been severely restricted or eliminated. Reputation damage and gossiping is rampant with everyone placing the blame on others."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Value your employees or else your business and quality will suffer. Provide more job flexibility and stop cracking the whip all of the time. Give your employees some downtime between projects to explore new technology or patent ideas. Stop compressing your schedules so intensively."

"The quality of the employees at Motorola is outstanding and for the most part were a pleasure to work with."

"Motorola is unfortunately a shell of the great company it once was. It truly is a shame this once dominant, innovative, employee-supportive company has become status quo."

"Middle Management has become a cut-throat entity where protecting a job has unfortunately become paramount."

"Reward and support those who take calculated risks, drive for success, produce profitable margins, and work well with others."

"The kind of work they do is breath-taking, but the environment is very gloomy and dull. They are very keen on getting individuals that are strong in technical skills and don't really care much about the person's inter-personal skills."

"Currently, the company does not allow telecommuting and I believe that would be a great change, to offer that option."

"I am familiar with the people and the environment. I am kind of used to the culture there. I have been responsible for many important matters and have been trusted by the management and coworkers. I am the final technical escalation point for many things, and I got decide whether the vendor or an external resource should be called in for an issue or request."

"Internal referral will increase a big chance for you to be hired."

What don't you like about working at Motorola Solutions?

"As I am getting used to the culture there, I am losing my sharpness of my thoughts. I also do not like some parts of the business decisions there which are too shortsighted in my opinion."

"While we outsourcing the work to cut the cost, we should continue to encourage strong technical ownership of the work and its products. No matter how few permanent employees left, we should keep the technical keenness and be able to make the technical architectural decisions, or we will lose the control of the cost."
