Working at Wyeth in Limerick, PA: 1 Employee Reviews

Wyeth Employee

What do you like about working at Wyeth?

"Nothing. It was a upper management biased, unprofessional, insensitive, unfair , abusive work environment. The employee support program was a farce & a joke. Instead of addressing the actual reports of harassment , abuse, they left the employee under the same abusive supervisor, till the employee left knowing that they will be targeted for poor evaluation because they reported the misbehaviors of the supervisor! Too management-biased, very poor support system for the actual PhD. scientists doing the work & developing therapies."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Yes. Make sure you are aware of the reputation and temperament about your immediate supervisor you will report to. My Immediate supervisor was in Wyeth for 13 years when I joined. She was extremely unprofessional, yelled, screamed, made body gesture & was an abusive personality. I left Wyeth because of the non-stop harassment & bullying of my immediate supervisor. She made me call an invited speaker to tell her that the flight the speaker chose was more expensive & unless the speaker agrees to a lower airfare flight, her invitation would be cancelled! My supervisor was not trained in behavioral animal model data interpretation & would harass me , but harassed me without understanding the data interpretation. She used my data & models in presentations & didn't acknowledge the fact that I initiated and developed them. Prior to me, she harassed another female PhD. reporting to her by grabbing her wrist & shook it several times, because she didn't like the stlye of her writing & this female colleague of mine left Wyeth & is a successful medical writer making US 500.00/hr. My supervisor's supervisor a director, was aware of her bad, unprofessional behavior towards senior scientists but he looked the other way, because she got the so-called job done. Human resourse had reports but no disciplinary actions were taken against her, every one in the unit knew she was a bully & harassed her PhDs under her, but looked the other way. The turn over rate under her was very poor, 1-2 years max, especially for PhD.scientists. She was shallow as a scientist, but very pushy & was backed by the director of women's health, who himself was a whimp & was having an affair with another female scientist in the unit (both were married & this affair was an open secret & again upper management looked the other way, instead of changing reporting structures). It was the worst working, prejudicial & unprofessional organization I ever worked for."

What don't you like about working at Wyeth?

"The repeated bullying, harassment, male gender bias of my immediate female supervisor, who was considered to be a senior leader & promoted to a director position. She came from an abusive, unprofessional family & inspite of being at Wyeth for 13 years, she behaved in an abusive, unprofessional manner towards the female Phd. scientists that reported to her & used them to advance her career & didn't care about promoting their careers at Wyeth."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Giving too much power to principal scientist overseeing senior research scientists without proper professional training & supervision of the Principal scientists managing projects. Bad behavior of principal scientists towards direct reports overlooked."
