"I've worked for Verizon Wireless since 2009. I found it to be a challenging, fast paced job with rapid advancement opportunities. I feel that certain areas lack integrity but generally there are excellent training programs that they allow their employees to take. The company has 100,000+ employees."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Good luck!! You need to know someone. Also, expect to try to get in for a year or two."
What don't you like about working at Verizon Wireless?
"I dislike redundancy of meetings, especially Friday mornings. They do not care about work-life balance in the retail stores, even though they claim they do. That is only for corporate positions. Plus VZW does not let up despite overall economic indicators. They drive you harder and feel they can do it because 3% of the stores or reps make it by chance. Also, if you make too much, they will cap you and encourage you to find a different position and if you don't, they will write you out of the business! Oh, and the requirement of a college degree to be a sales rep What is that You pass up several solid individuals by doing that. That, in itself, is a huge form of discrimination against those who try hard and may not have the money to go to college."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Leadership, when you say the percentage does not matter, with surveys, but it is what the customer says. Practice what you preach!! Too many reps are demoralized by that stern call from leadership even though the customers say all is good. Be more humanistic in your management style. People do not respond well to threats or KPI meetings at 7 a.m. on their days off or days they work late. Actually any days. And those kick-off meetings (TJ) are a joke. You are forcing the entire retail staff to wake up at O'Dark:30 just to be tongue-lashed."
"VZW is a great place to work if you shed the stress once you leave."

"I loved the people, gadgets, pay, and benefits."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

What don't you like about working at Verizon Wireless?
"I did not like the unsavory customers - the extremists and those who needed to be removed by authorities. Also, they work store managers to the bone and you can burn out easily."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Balance your personal life. Exercise or do whatever you have to do, because the job wears on you."
"Best pay in the industry, with great benefits."
