"Technical support requires management skills that most companies aren't willing to pay for. Taking the fallout on a bad software patch or staying late to 11:30 pm because you're still on a 3 PM call. On the positive side you learn to overcome stressful situations and communicate effectively. Exposure to all tech issues. Being current all the time. IMHO, you can only do this for so long and it's time to achieve something that feels more challenging and rewarding and most importantly - STABLE."

Senior Technical Support Engineer at Tellabs

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"Office politics and favoritism are all over at Tellabs."

What do you like about working at Tellabs?

"Initially it was a wonderful company. After Mike Burke retired all the cronnies robbed the place blind and took theres. The corporate culture is shut up and work. You complain you lose your job or your job is done away with. Before working there was never considered a job it was like you were contributing to something and you were treated very well. That stopped in 2001 and has gotten progressively worse. Best things that could happen is that the company gets bought up or goes away."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
