Often the management team makes a decision which conflicts with the engineering team, but the team is responsible for meeting management decisions. Then we spend months trying to figure out why we failed."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Better communication is needed. The entire team must understand and buy-in to the project to be successful."
"Efficent company with standard corp structure."
"A very good place for an entry level engineer wanting to obtain experience working in the aircraft avionics industry. Very poor management at all levels who do their best to prevent you from doing your job and getting things done. Project engineers generate schedules that make them look good (very little time or resources required to design and deliver a product) but a nightmare for individuals actually performing the work. Requirements constantly change requiring hours of rework, however, delivery date remains fixed. Engineers working on the project get blamed for not meeting unreasonable deadlines."
What do you like about working at Rockwell Collins?
"I like my freedom to make decisions on my own."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Yes, I would recommend getting to know as much about your department as possible. I wouldn't ask the basic questions of what would I be doing and things of that nature. I would focus more on: how do you cadence projects, what are your priorities, where do you see the company in ten years. Things like that."
What don't you like about working at Rockwell Collins?
"I feel the company is poorly managed. To be more clear there are too many levels of management. Also, too many workers have become complacent and don't provide much value to the company."

The corporate vision is to expand the business corporate enterprise goal is to gain more market share in the international business."
"I've worked for Rockwell Collins for 10 years in multiple departments. The enjoyment of the job highly depends on the department head. Some departments are great at providing good tools and good life-work balance. Some departments will completely disregard any input and work you ragged. Overall benefits have gone down lately so they're about average."
"Stable company and a well-known name in the industry. The pay is a bit below average, and yearly raises barely keep up with inflation.Good area to raise a family with a lost cost of living, but certainly not suitable for single or young professionals.Hard to move up unless you join the inner circle."
