"Slick company; tries to do everything right. Totally sterile. Work with oddly possessed zombies."
"Microsoft is definitely one of the best places to work!"
"Good place to work overall."
"I enjoyed my internship at Microsoft. There are lots of really smart people there, and I got to work on cool technology. The compensation was very competitive. The only real downside of Microsoft is how large it is. Sometimes, it's hard to find the correct documentation or team that you need to interface with."
"Overall, this was a good experience with good people. I had my own office, which was good for shutting out distractions, and I had a lot of autonomy + a PM with his head screwed on straight. The place was far from perfect - contractors often had difficulty getting the attention of veteran employees and there was a vast disconnect between managers about practicality and time constraints vs perfection and polish. I learned a lot tho and I did work that everyone approved of, so it worked out."
"This was a great team to work with - they respected my input, gave me useful feedback, and gave me autonomy without isolation. Also, it was an environment where you could relax and be yourself; people were comfortable with each other's quirks and habits, and I really liked my coworkers, not just liked working with them. The best thing, though, was my boss, who was great to have in your corner; she was very good at getting people to work together and getting them what they needed when they needed it."
"Microsoft is a company that does many products across consumer and enterprise markets. One can always find the new technologies and/or new products to work on. Giving myself as an example, I have worked for Windows, Windows Phone and Microsoft Research across multiple disciplines. Not many companies can offer those opportunities. Strongly recommended."
"I started in Microsoft from 2004. Overall, it is a strong company to work in."
"I have worked for my company for close to 3 years now and have not received a performance review since. I have not received a compensation increase, but I have been promoted in position and tasks allotted."
"Don't work there unless you need to."
"I've worked for Microsoft for 11 months now and love it there! If you work hard you will be rewarded."
"I've worked with Microsoft for 18 years. I've seen this company evolve and grow and it contains great people. The people give the company their very best. I recommend they upgrade their environment to be more collaborative and innovative. I recommend they create an innovative atmosphere and allow new ideas. Their calibration process has kept innovation from happening and now that it is gone, we should see the company improve in this area."
"Microsoft is an excellent company to work. What needs to be improved is the work/life balance. The required travel is 70% in some positions."
"I have worked for Microsoft for 8 years. In this time I have been in many different teams and had incredible opportunities to work with cutting edge technology and outstanding peers. The culture leaves a bit to be desired and at a certain point it is very difficult to continue advancing your career."
"I've been at Microsoft for about 2 years and it is a really great place to work. I work in a small team of about 8 people. The team is very casual but we are still very agile and quick to meet most deadlines on time. I only wish that I had better compensation but I suppose that may be a consequence of working through a staffing agency instead of being an FTE."
