The company is separated into three distinct groups:
• Kaiser Health Plan and regional operating subsidiaries – they are administered through eight U.S. regions. This includes one parent and five subordinate health plan entities, one hospital entity, and nine affiliated medical groups. The eight regions KP supports are Northern California, Southern California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, the Mid-Atlantic, Northwest, and Ohio.
• Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals – this division has a single Board of Directors, which is the ultimate governing body. Each region is headed by an individual president. Each of these presidents reports to a national leadership team member.
• Permanente Medical Groups – This is run by physician executives who report to the board of directors. All groups having varying profit structures.
