While you will learn a lot about financial modeling, data analytics, creating PowerPoints, multitasking, and becoming more detail-oriented, your work-life balance will be fairly nonexistent. Having said that, there will be a lot of senior management exposure and you will feel comfortable working under tight deadlines."

Only growth in past 10 yrs has been through acquisitions, not in improving core business. Several times required to work 16-32hr shifts with no additional compensation. Company policy of using forced resignations on long-term employees during out-sourcing to save severance $$. Management above immediate superior is technically illiterate. Avoid like the plague."

"Due to the near-slave labor atmosphere of most groups, they tend to pay slightly above average. Enough to keep a person there, putting up with their terrible, heavy pressure environment."

"Do NOT work in IT. If it's on the business side, the good groups are mixed in with very bad ones so it's pot luck."

What don't you like about working at Jefferies?

"Balance of work and life is basically nonexistent within their IT. The upper and mid level managers give very little leeway to personal situations vs business needs, and as a result the company is very thinly staffed in most areas. A person on vacation or out unscheduled causes major issues in productivity for the rest of the group"

"Respect your employees and provide a much better work/life balance. The atmosphere they provide for business and other support roles alike is critical to company moral."

"I worked for the Medical Device Group which was the best group to work for in that office. My communication skills grew tremendously because of the manager I supported and that skill has helped me develop so many more useful tactics throughout my career."

"Reach out to current employers and ask about their experiences before making a final decision"

What don't you like about working at Jefferies?

"There wasn't a sense of team work most of the time and I always felt tension in the office amongst the senior managers. As a result I felt the rest of the teams did not have a strong foundation to build up from."

"Keep an open dialogue with your assistants as well as your peers. Although a lot may go unsaid it still reflects on our performance."

"When I first started there, the people were real, I made some really good friends that I'm still in contact with there/then."

"If you don't know anybody already there who has any pull, forget about this place, they only hire people who have friends on the inside."

"Over time, the real people were forced out or left on their own, and some corporate sharks moved in with fake smiles"

"Go back to where you came from, bring the old management back who valued job performance more than who they knew prior to coming to the company."
