"I recently graduated with my Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from University at Buffalo. During my recent Master's thesis titled "Flexible Intramedullary Nailing of Length Unstable Pediatric Femur Fractures: 3D Biomechanical Analysis of Traditional Antegrade and Retrograde Configurations versus an Updated Retrograde Nail Configuration", I was responsible for elaborating the drawbacks of the existing methods of treatment of pediatric fractures and develop an updated method of treatment. I was working with 2 resident doctors from Buffalo General Children's Hospital along with my graduate advisor Dr. Mark Ehrensberger at the Kenneth Krackow Orthopedics Laboratory. My thesis was submitted to POSNA (Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America) and AAOS (American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons) for publishing. The main objective of my thesis involved Biomechanical Testing with MTS Bionix and ARAMIS 3D, CAD modeling using SolidWorks and GOM Correlate, analysis using ANSYS and statistical process control analysis using SPSS 25.0. The research work was further carried out by suggesting an updated configuration which proved significantly better in improving the biomechanical properties like torsional stiffness, reduction in length and ability to sustain greater than normal loads than existing methods of treatment. In addition to this, I was able to standardize the method of implantation of nails ensuring perfect reduction of the fracture site which enabled me to learn in detail about the FDA regulatory affairs and ISO standards."
