"Lack of variety of job. Engineer is responsible only for hard core engineering it stops overall growth."

"Improve management-to-employee communication to increase morale and productivity. Need to create non-hostile work environment for diverse workforce."

"The work was always challenging and professional. The work place was well taken care of and the people were professional."

"It's cold in Idaho. Be sure you are up to the long winters and deep snow. After 7 years, I gave up primarily because of the cold winters."

What don't you like about working at Bechtel?

"The funding cycle for DOE caused work to go up and down. Lay-offs were very regular, about every 3 years. Bechtel was focused on keeping profits up and overall costs down. This made staying for a career unlikely."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"None. I generally liked the management at this company. I think Senior Management needs to think long term, concerning employees. If you lay off 1/3 of your employees each 3 or 4 years, it's hard to maintain a well qualified staff."

"Tell the truth, don't lie on your resume, just be upfront about who you are."

"I am always a long way from home, that's the only thing."

"Candidate must keep in mind that interviewers are very experienced and seasoned professionals, and his response should be to the point and clear to all questions."

"Too big a global company to get due recognition. Management believes in status-quo approach and too difficult to introduce new ideas. Waste of expense human resource on routine type of works. Document Control is properly managed."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Effectively use the expensive human resource by providing proper tools and equipment. More emphasis on centralized data bank. Formation of standard templates for Scope of work, Design basis report, Request for Proposal documents, etc."

"I feel it has given me a background of working in the field as opposed to working behind a desk."

"It is a very good company in which to work. I would be prepared to have a quick learning curve for working on a nuclear facility."

"I feel that the magnitude of working on a nuclear facility is tedious. A lot of paper work and minimal production."

"The company's corporate culture is one of favoritism where results are often overlooked and promotions are rewarded to unqualified recipients."

"I suggest management behave according to their own covenants and suggest they train to understand their employee's knowledge, skills and abilities and learn ways to leverage their experience. Management needs to understand technology."

"I have no complaints on anything or anyone from my Bechtel experience."
