"It's a good company that is trying too get lean and build out systems that can be continuously integrated. They still have legacy systems that need waterfall but the culture is changing."
"Great job. Very consistent ... Most employees have been here 10 plus years."
"I have worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina for 10 years. As one of the largest employers in South Carolina, the company is very diverse with a huge impact to the community. The company has strong ethical values and has a United Way campaign each year to raise money for those less fortunate. The company culture is very friendly and encourages strong team work and collaboration."
"I am an emotionally intelligent professional who approaches project management as a servant leader. I adapt my role to best support the team and drive to a successful project outcome. I espouse the values of mutual respect, leadership by example and transparent communication."
"A very controlling company with very good processes. Not a strong technical company but leverage proven technologies. Very mainframe centric. A very good marketing plan and the CEO has good instincts for new business. Very successful in the long term and strong in recessions. The people are very good to work with. Follow a lot of ITIL structure. Have won contracts against some of the largest competition in the industry."
"I only worked at BCBS for about 6-8 months. In this time, I was required to lie to my callers, flat-out refuse to help them, and have them call back or give them another number to call for help. This was after they had spent weeks trying to get a hold of someone at times. Breaks were not allowed, oftentimes they would bring in lunch just to have you on the floor taking calls. I was let go because they needed to make an example out of someone, and I was the person they chose."
"Atrocious project management. Project parts were shuffled daily. I never knew one day to the next what I was working on, only to find someone else had been assigned my work, and I was given something from somewhere else. System permissions to get work done was a guessing game. US citizen co-workers who were full time employees were passed over for raises, training and growth opportunity, in favor of giving non-citizens being granted full time status."
"I worked at BCBSSC for five years as a contractor. I was part of a test team that grew from a small team to a fairly large test department. My supervisors were all great people to work with and always had an Open Door policy. Co-workers were great and we always helped each other out no matter what our forte was regarding our knowledge/skill set. The work was stressful at times but it was never super overwhelming."
"BCBSSC is an outstanding organization with varied subsidiaries involved in intellectually and professionally rewarding work. Internal promotion opportunities are plentiful for those who work hard and are comfortable working in a team setting."
"The place uses old CPUs and expects miracles on a below average salary."
