"Back when I work for Wellpoint, yes I would say the company was good. I had great supervisors that cared and a strong management team that backed the employees. Just like all companies you have your ups and downs but internally I felt my unit was a great unit."

"Can transfer to other offices, perhaps."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Difficult situation in San Diego. VP informed me more informal and supportive environment in other offices such as the Denver office. I only know about the San Diego office and I would not ever recommend it to anybody."

What don't you like about working at Wellpoint?

"The culture of the office in San Diego was one of groupthink. It felt hostile and intimidating. As if everyone was walking on eggshells and gotcha was in the air. The Supervisor, more often than not, curt, abrupt, and intimidating. No clear direction, supervision was unhelpful, inadequate. So much hierarchical leadership, hence incredible ingratiating activities toward leadership, it was uncomfortable for this RN."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Review what Leadership is and what it is about. What are the activities of leadership? What is the true meaning of TEAMWORK and how does it play out in real work world? How do you design, develop a supportive work team, environment that allows for creativity and self-expression within the parameters of company policy?"

"The benefits were good,"

What don't you like about working at Wellpoint?

"local/mid level managers taking benefits away from you (days off, holiday pay) with HR approvals. Some areas might be good to work for, but the Print Mail facility was not one of them."

"quit so better more understanding people can take your place"

"In our office there was no real politics."

"Don't!!!"

What don't you like about working at Wellpoint?

"Well everything changed they are letting go of more then 1500 people in what they call a wave every two weeks they are giving people their term date one month from the day you are told they are replacing us with off shore people in the Philippine's. Hundreds of people are losing their jobs! So I am not much of a fan of WellPoint!"

"Be more receptive to your workers' suggestions. They are the ones in the trenches on a daily basis."

"Do not even send in your resume if you ever worked for WellPoint. Send in your resume if you ever worked for Anthem. Be extremely aware of the politics and especially that you can be replaced in a second there."

What don't you like about working at Wellpoint?

"Very very very political. And now since Anthem owns them, WellPoint is dead."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Stop being cowardly and hire ex-WellPoint people because discrimination will bring YET another lawsuit (they are sued 45-60 times a year due to HR issues and healthcare insurance denials)."
