"While I was developing my skills as a Website Designer, Production Artist and Front-end Developer they were my resource for finding freelance work. Because I am primarily self-taught, Artisan's support of me was crucial in the beginning years. They represented me in such a way that I was able to slowly gain hands-on experience while building a portfolio. They are great people to work with."
What do you like about working at Southern Illinois University?
"The freedom to work at home or at my office in the museum. SIUC has a great campus to work on and is very beautiful."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"I would suggest them to have a good background with Front-End Web development so that they could have a foothold."
What don't you like about working at Southern Illinois University?
"I don't like the parking areas. I don't like that I have to share an office."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I suggest that the web site be administered by staff who is familiar with today's web site designs."

"Be up-o-date on current technologies in the science publishing fields. Be pleasant, present yourself professionally and be prepared to work with some great people."

"You don't have to be loved but maintaining an open line of communication goes a long way with almost every type of employee."

"There was a clearly visible roadblock or ceiling in terms of career advancement and monetary compensation."

"I believe better employee incentive programs should be considered. Also, job security was an issue that many fellow employees at the company felt was unstable."

"Sadly, there's a great deal of who-you-know. Many positions have been created with a specific person in mind."

"As the university is slow to change, there aren't many opportunities to grow or advance."

"It's like a family--- a very functional, loving and inclusive family. People stay there for a very long time and the environment is incredibly friendly and warm. Very good people there."

"Be yourself. Show your strengths and share your dreams with them and let them know if you play an instrument (they'll ask you to play in the company band)"

"The pay was much lower than comparable jobs and that's why I ultimately felt I had to leave."

"This is a difficult one because I thought management was very engaged with each other and their teams."

"The mortgage business can be very stressful at times due to the ups and downs of the market and the closing deadlines."

"I would say it would have been better to have a business plan developed that would enable all team members to work together toward a common goal instead of going in different directions."
