Volvo Careers & Info

Volvo Overview

Volvo is a Swedish company that is currently involved in the production of construction equipment, as well as commercial vehicles such as buses and trucks. The company also manufactures drive systems that are used in industrial machinery and ships. While they are best known for their consumer cars, it should be known that the car division of the company was sold to the Ford Motor Company in 1999. In 2010, as the car division wasn't making the expected profit, it was sold off to Chinese company Geely Holding Group.

Volvo is currently headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden. The company began its operations back in 1927 when their first car rolled off the production factory. In 1928, Volvo expanded its operations to build trucks, which began attracting the attention of overseas buyers. It wasn't until about a decade later that the company began exporting its vehicles to other countries.
