What don't you like about working at United States Army?

"The Old Boy Network is alive and well at the Red River Army Depot. If you come in as an outsider, you will remain an outsider. I have seen a secretary with no IT experience get promoted to IT and once within IT. Now she is equal to my pay and I have 40 years experience in computer hardware and software. She still can't tell the difference between a NIC card and a modem card. Let alone the different kinds of RAM, hardware connections, parallel or serial ports, you get the drift. It is not what you know, it is who you know."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Stop hiring your friends, stop sleeping with subordinates and stop promoting for your hidden agendas."

Systems Administrator

"I like the fact that most of the work I do is hands-on. The benefits and level of training received is excellent."

What don't you like about working at United States Army?

"The main thing that I do not like is deployment. Since I have a family now it would be nice to be able to stay home for more than a year at a time."
