"Love it... no downside for me."

The biggest pleasure I get is knowing when I have done my best to complete the process for a Borrower that had dreamt of home ownership now come to fruition."

"Being a Transactional Underwriter means there are periods of time where you are very busy and have a large opportunity for overtime and extra income. Conversely, there are times when there are no assignments and there is no income for weeks at a time. The free time every so often is a definite perk, but the down time is probably the worst aspect of this type of contract employment."

"The only part of the underwriting position I dislike is when you have to work with under qualified loan officers and processors who do not do their job with full capacity. I love helping the borrower(s) to purchase their first home, or simply refinance to put themselves in a better finance position. Sometimes I have to advise the borrower(s) that this is not the right time to purchase or refinance because they do not qualify. Team management is a major component. It's all about the attitude."
