"I love all the new experiences I have had and the new things I get to learn every day. I love working with people and enjoy teaching new nurses about the profession. I love being able to teach students and new nurses about safe, evidence based practice, and to watch them grow to be great nurses and to pass that good quality practice on. I dislike the communication between the multidisciplinary healthcare teams and believe there is a lot of room for improvement."

What do you like about working at Chapman Medical Center?
"Hardworking, honest nurses. Mostly nice people, diversity a plus. Accessible to public transportation, shopping centers, medical buildings."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"This company has Nurses Union hospital dues; you are protected but frequently cancelled. You'll need to have a second job to supplement your income because of cancellations."
What don't you like about working at Chapman Medical Center?
"Frequent cancellations, hiring new staff then cancels more, CNO not effective does not care about quality of care for patients as cancelations of staff are frequent, or staff are taken out of their home unit and floated to other units, leaving the home unit lacking help, ultimately affecting quality of care."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Need to have quality care then provide complete staff always. It is part of the budget. Reveal monthly budget activities. BE HONEST to employees and cooperation will be built."

"There used to be a strong family feeling at the hospital, but this has been declining over the last three years."

"Be certified in as many areas as you possibly can."
What don't you like about working at Northwest Community Hospital?
"two layoffs in the current year with more layoffs anticipated soon."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Reduction of staff does not lead to increased patient satisfaction or improved outcomes."
What do you like about working at American Red Cross?
"Being part of the life saving mission. Relative ease of actual work. People generally easy to get along with (coworkers and managers)."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"I am not sure how I got my job--I guess by being qualified and professional. When I asked for an important day off, I was told by my hiring supervisor that he had tried to convince the other supervisor not to hire me, so that didn't make me feel too good. He's gone now, but that attitude of, we never wanted you stuck with me. Well, why did you hire me? Why did you keep me on? Another important tip is that there is no patient care experience at this job, so new nurses need to avoid this place--it makes you relatively unhireable... something they neglect to address during the hiring process. If, however, you want to be lazy and not have to do a ton of work, and are an older nurse just getting back into the field, and you don't mind getting paid substantially less, with fewer benefits, than at most other healthcare jobs, then this might be the perfect fit!"
What don't you like about working at American Red Cross?
"Supervisors are encouraged at all levels to micromanage activities of the staff. Depending on your relationship with some of the supervisors, they can be flexible or inflexible with requests. There doesn't seem to be a lot of management training given to new supervisors, and they have a because-I-said-so type attitude, rather than a let's-find-a-solution attitude."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Return to a health care oriented focus rather than a manufacturing focus."

"Tuition Reimbursement, great learning opportunity, good benefits, and the magnet hospital status increases learning opportunities."

"Ask lots of questiosn to see if the department is a good fit for you. Ask about opportunities for advancement and furthering your education if that's what you would like to do."
What don't you like about working at Barnes-Jewish Hospital?
"Its a very political place if you want to move up the career ladder."

"Management could be better. Some people are not effective managers no matter how much education they have."

"This company has great opportunity for learning and can be beneficiall if you have are contented with where you are in your career."

"There were not many opportunities for advancement. Prior to new managment towards the end of my career with VA the management was poor."
