Working at SIB Development & Consulting in Charleston, SC: 5 Employee Reviews

SIB Development & Consulting Employee

"I started as an intern then was hired full time. As an intern the job seemed okay but once I saw the offer and the amount I would be paid I was definitely second guessing myself. Salary negotiation is impossible. They shut that conversation down right away. Asking for the weekend to ponder the decision was also a no-go. I was told that I had one day to sign the paper or the job was gone. Being fresh out of college I was terrified of the job market. Unemployment was a scary thing to think about so I signed the paper. If I could go back and crumple that offer up I would. The atmosphere was fun but so dangerous. Everyone there seemed to do binge drinking professionally and now I know why. It was the only way to cope with the miserable job. Management sucked. My direct supervisor was great. I loved working for Drew but everyone else was awful. The president at the time was a terrible person and an even worse boss. The salary is low and becomes a huge issue as far as motivation goes. Good luck getting a raise because those were minimal, as well. There were no real benefits other than free lunch, dogs at work, and minimal paid time off. The five year bonus is a joke. I very seriously doubt anyone could stand working there that long and even if they did I doubt the CEO would pay out. The only real perks of working for this place is the amazing free lunch and the dogs. That's it. I really hope that CofC stops allowing this man to speak on campus and recruit unknowing college kids. It's the most soul-crushing experience I have ever had. The business itself is pretty shady altogether. Oh and all the reviews that refer to employees who complain as "entitled" or that speak of "competitive salary and benefits package" were written by people who were paid to do so to get sales up. Don't fall for the scam."

"On track to become one of the best places to work in the Charleston area!"

What do you like about working at SIB Development & Consulting?

"The collaborative environment and the fact that the owner and mgmt care about their employees' well-being. The ice cream party philosophy is absolutely true. Mess up, fess up, turn it into a teaching moment for everyone and eat ice cream! I also don't feel like anyone in this environment is cut-throat. Everyone works hard together and at times plays hard together."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Do your research! Know who your interviewing with and be yourself. The company works very hard to place the best people for the culture and position to ensure that the work environment flows well, and you want to get the job because of who you are and what you can do, not who you want to be and what you wish you could do."

"Probably walking across the street to get to my car in the rain."
