"Ask questions about current union environment. Ask questions about any wage freezes."

"The company lacks transparency is not self critical. It hides inefficiencies from corporate and customers. They seem to bask in a reactive culture rather than grow a proactive culture with initiaitves like training, pfmea reviews, etc."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Boundaries for the plant's engineering resources need to be established. Need to get out of the firefighting details of everyday and focus on longterm key initiatives to promote profitability."

"SAIC is an extremely diversified international corporation. They offer many opportunities for growth in the commercial sector. This is not as likley on a government contract such as my curent one with NASA."

"There is nothing wrong with working as a support service contractor within a federal agency. Individuals may enjoy this type of work environment. I prefer to be more proactive and play a key role in helping an organization reach its goals and objectives."

What don't you like about working at SAIC?

"SAIC provides a reasonable rate of compensation and the benefits package is top shelf. Again, growth opportunities are limited on a government contract."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I have constantly provided suggestions to SAIC management for effecting continuous improvement, cost containment, etc. Most endeavors require the acceptance of the federal government to move forward."

"Be prepared to work hard. It is a fast pace environment that requires quick, precise decisions. You will work with some of the best people you will ever know. Use those people as you guide for success."

"The company lacked support from upper management and at times made decision making difficult."

"Management should be more supportive and use the knowledge of their employees who have the experience. They should look at the bigger picture when executing new methods to ensure it is the most benefical for those envolved."

What do you like about working at Becton, Dickinson & Co.?

"BD is a great company with good benefits. And I had the opportunity to work with some very good people."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"No. I do not have any tips. I was moved to BD from ICPA after BD bought ICPA."

What don't you like about working at Becton, Dickinson & Co.?

"BD was a Medical instrument company not a high tech company. So technologically they were way backward compared to other software companies. BD management did not bring the same culture to our Austin office."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"When you buy a company, you need to incorporate the new company with the head office and not keep separate. And please have patience. Our company ICPA survived 22 years with old management but BD could not keep it more than two years. within two years after they bought ICPA, they were done with it."

"If I were going to interview with this company and had never worked there, I would want someone to warn me that I would never / rarely see my family again."

"The environment and management is completely inflexible and traditional/old school when it comes to family needs and home life. There is far too much sacrifice expected, a work from home policy should be allowed or more flexible hours for salary workers."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I suggest the development of Family Friendly Human Resource Policies, and flexible 40 hour weeks be implemented for salary employees."
