"There are a few carriers that are very nice, as well as manager. Everyone lives in fear of the current Post Master; we are afraid to ask questions because he is always yelling at you when you do."

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"I want out of Postal Service, it's dying fast and too many slackers that don't care about others, just themselves."

What do you like about working at US Postal Service?

"The only thing I can say positive about the Post Office is that Unions are nice to have, but that's about all I can say good at this time, way too much negative things in the 2 years I have seen with my own eyes to really give anything worth credit to the Post Office as a whole."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't! There is no chance of promotion or progression in Postal Service and I don't foresee it getting any better in the next decade unless drastic changes come about and then it would be near impossible for anyone to start at the bottom and even think about getting full time work with any kind of stability. That's my take on it. Don't interview for Postal Service, it's just not worth your time."

What don't you like about working at US Postal Service?

"I don't work at main post office. I am a rural carrier. I get no benefits and yet I work my ass off more then most of the city carriers that complain all day. They have job security. I have nothing and I do my job better than them. Sorry, there is not much I can say good other then I have worked part time but it's been 2 years of part time with no future in Post Office for me and I have a degree, which makes me very valuable, and Post Office managers seem like pure idiots with no professionalism whatsoever. I have seen first hand how those in charge act immature with no moral values and very bad language when they get mad or upset. It's a depressing mode to see the Post Office on the inside and how they try to portray how great they are to the world. NEED FIXING BADLY! Post Office needs a rude awakening to the amount of lazy people they got taking jobs away from those that actually want and can work more efficiently."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Wow, that's a loaded gun question there. I would have to write a novel I think. One area that needs improvement is the quality of management! I have seen so many lazy un-professional managers and supervisors, it's just pathetic. They need training or they need to grow up and learn some human skills! Treatment by management sometimes is hostile at best to the employees they are in charge of. Caring is definitely not on their minds. Too much red tape, paperwork, micro-managing needs to stop or be overhauled. Management is not only ones that are in need of overhaul, clerks, window clerks, mail handlers and carriers all need improvement. I don't see any kind of discipline being given out, its just appalling to see what happens daily where I work. No one is held accountable for anything they do wrong or good. It's just a very bad environment to work in overall. When I was in US Army, our NCO's and Officers gave out monthly counseling and performance reviews which were very beneficial, in the fact it was a personal record that could be used if a soldier kept repeating an act or not doing something to standard they had ground for discipline and could be even demoting a soldier until he or she got their act together or even dishonorable discharge in extreme cases. Post Office needs to hold EVERYONE accountable. There are NO HUMAN SKILLS being used at all in the Postal Service by management or supervisors, it's more like yelling and screaming at a day care center! That's so wrong. I could go on and on here but that's all I will say. Management needs a serious overhaul of how business is done! ITS NOT 1950 anymore! Technology is here, embrace it, don't fight it, and learn to adapt to it without screwing those that have worked hard, but please get rid of the slackers, there are WAY too many of them in Post Office collecting a paycheck and barely working to deserve it. Seriously, once I find full time work I wont waste my time staying with Postal Service and I really thought there was a chance for a person like me to progress with my background in military and my experience and education. I have no chance because of all the red tape and lack of performance measuring tools that are non existent in Postal Service to weed out the worthless lazy bums that are taking mine and others money daily."
