"Basically NO career advancement on the Govt. side of the company. The advice I was given on how to succeed at Rockwell Collins was to leave and then come back in a bout 10 years. Quote from a beaten down co-worker: Once they know you are unwilling to move you will never again get a raise."

"Stop with the mental handjobs and just be honest with your employees."

"One of the most common complaints made by engineers, is that they are assigned to work on a specific project, however, without any documentation or guidance to perform their tasks. My greatest difficulty was trying to complete an assigned project in which the requirements were constantly changing."

"It's all about who you know. Management practically has tenure, and during time of local economic hardship, it's a little galling to see local employees get the axe and contractors from India brought in to replace them."

"Past performance is a good predictor of future work. If an employee consistently fails to deliver, you don't have to weigh their promises equally with more reliable employees."
