Overview Rackspace is an IT hosting and cloud computing company that was launched in October of 1998. It initially began as an application developing company, but the founders soon realized that the end-user either didn't want to host the applications on their own servers or didn't have the specific knowledge to host the applications themselves.

The managed level consists of a proactive level of support, but the end user is encouraged to contact Rackspace if any needs arise outside of the managed service. The intensive level gives the customer access to additional levels of support. They also offer an open source cloud computing platform.
