What do you like about working at PETCO?

"I have a good boss. I like the fact that I am not micromanaged."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"You have to really like doing the work, because you won't be highly paid. You don't get to take a lot of time off, due to the low amount of hours given to the stores."

What don't you like about working at PETCO?

"The pay for internal promotions is much lower than outside hires. Bonuses are much lower than other retailers. The company does not conduct random or pre-employment drug screening. The cost for medical insurance is very high."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Start drug screening, and pay competitive wages for internal promotions."

"Hard, fast-paced work. Always changing, but I enjoyed it."

"The people I work with make it fun and enjoyable."

"Show that you're a hard worker, and be willing to be open to learn all things and have an open schedule."

"The company was poor at caring for its employees, and seemed to make wrong choices financially."

"Enhance their training program, giving management more hours to train new employees."

"I enjoy interacting with people and meeting their needs. I like to help, so this was good for me."

"It really was not a bad company to work for."

"I did not like the lack of support from management."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would ask them to listen to the requests of those on the front lines in direct contact with the customers."

"If you love animals, don't work there."

What don't you like about working at PETCO?

"The district manager brought in his crew from his previous employer, and a lot of good people lost their jobs. When approaching the HR department on a theft problem, they turned their backs. I quit, and 6 months later all of the employees were caught. I tried to tell them. So once I did not receive the support from admin, I quit."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Do not doubt a manager when they come to them with an employee theft problem. There was a lot of employee theft in the store I worked."

"Great first job. Since there are so many locations, you are just treated like a number. Hard work and dedication don't seem to matter."

What do you like about working at PETCO?

"I like the animals and customers."

"This was a good first job to gain some experience being a manager after college. It is great to work with the different animals but advancement is missing, especially for the under 25 crowd."

What don't you like about working at PETCO?

"I don't like upper management, and getting no reward for hard work."

"Invest in a better training program, and take an interest in the employees who work for you."
