What do you like about working at The Planet?
"Everything, The people, environment, technologies I got to work with, even the respect I received."
What don't you like about working at The Planet?
"The fact the investment firm GI Partners that owned The Planet decided to buy Softlayer and merge us. Yes that's right Lance Crosby doesn't own Softlayer. Other than a 20% which is divided between 6-8 other people. GI Partners owns Softlayer."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"None is left. Softlayer fired most of The Planets management staff after the merger. GI Partners made a big mistake firing Doug Erwin."

"NOKIA doesn't get it and couldn't hang."
What do you like about working at Nokia?
"Nokia had decent pay and nice benefits. The San Francisco location was very non-corporate and encompassed the bay-area lifestyle. This was unique only to this location."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Not really, NOKIA is very corporate. If a suit and tie is your thing, and you don't mind not having job security, go for it."
What don't you like about working at Nokia?
"I disliked the major disconnect between corporate HQ and the soldiers on the ground. We would spend weeks, if not months, waiting for approvals on anything. A lot of poor decisions were made in HQ without regard or knowledge of the ground war and the consequences. Essentially, everyone at the San Francisco site got screwed. There was no HQ loyalty to the staff regardless of being the best performing NOKIA site worldwide."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Shatter the glass ceiling, come down off the VIP cloud and see what your company and workers actually does. Then HQ decisions would have some substance."

"Most of the people that I was wokring with made it an enjoyable place"

"If you get the job your job is only as secure as your managers.....if he/she leaves you may be out the door with them"

"Durring the past year we were told the comapny was not looking to lay-off people after a systems upgrade, shortly after the upgrade many people were let go of"

"Keep your promise"

"Have to work 3rd shift and everyone was afraid to let you learn what they knew because of job security"

"Be more pleasant to employees around you and leave your problems at home"

"under staffing causing delays when dealing with projects and customers. Lack of training."

"Increase moral to increase positive interactions between customers and employees"

"It would have to be the people. Dedicated professionals that come together as a team."

"Know the job position requirements and be ready to answer or commit to learning them."

"The focus is all on the work with no time for training/mentoring. This wasn't true at first but after first 2 years it changes."

"Balance the training aspect with the job focus."
