3.4It's a good place to work culture-wise and most of the employees are great people. Management could be better but I think it is slowly getting better. A lot of employees get taken advantage of and are not compensated properly for the work they put in. But it is a nonprofit, so what do you expect when it comes to decent pay. Moving up is basically impossible since there are very few positions and even then the extra work given is not worth the pay. I can say at one point this was the funnest job I have ever had until you get burnt out and begin looking for something that pays more for the stress you are put under. They do give employees annual fun events and BBQs to show some appreciation for them. In conclusion, seeing the animals and maybe going behind the scenes, plus the discounts are pretty awesome. It definitely has its moments and I think it's worth the experience. Just don't expect to make a livable wage. What really makes you want to stay here is the Animals and a lot of the people that work there. It can be very rewarding with the charities and experiences you will have, As I said, it is very niche and there is nothing you can really compare it to besides working at another Aquarium or Zoo.
3I can say at one point this was the funniest job I ever had. Eventually, you get burnt out on it. The pay is not great but it is a nonprofit so what do you expect. The ability to move up is very small since there are not many positions available and even then you just get more work with no real additional pay, just a different title, and more responsibility. The good people are taken advantage of and work on and off the clock. The co-workers and people are great and the ability to work with charities is very rewarding, they even reward the staff with events and BBQ's but eventually, you will leave this job for something that pays better. Plus the behind the scenes and the animals you get to interact with, there is nothing like it. It has its moments.
