Lockheed Martin, headquartered in Bethesda, MD, is a global security, aerospace, and defense company and is principally involved in the research, design and development, manufacture, integration, and sustainability of advanced technology systems. Most of the company's business is with the United States Department of Defense and other federal government agencies. They operate in 572 facilities in 500 cities and 46 states. On top of this, they also operate in 75 countries.

Lockheed Martin is known for its four major units: Aeronautics, Electronic Systems, Information Systems and Global Solutions, and Space Systems.

Aeronautics: This division deals operates tactical aircraft, airlift, and aeronautical research and development lines of business. To date, the most important project is the F-35 Lightning. Other notable products introduced by the aeronautics division are the C-5 Galaxy, the F-22 Raptor, and the S-3 Viking.

Electronic Systems: This unit includes missile and fire control, naval systems, platform integration, simulation and training, and all other energy programs lines of business.

IS&GS: This section deals with the C41, federal services, and government and commercial IT solutions.

Space Systems: The most notable products here are for commercial and military purposes, such as satellites, space probes, missile defense systems, NASA’s multipurpose crew vehicle, and the space shuttle external tank.
