Working at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Tracy, CA: 1 Employee Reviews

Computer Scientist

"Mismanaged cold war relic without a future."

What do you like about working at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory?

"Working with a group of the brightest people I've ever met on really hard problems."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be sure to ask the people you work with about the work environment -- limitations on cell phones, computer use, how you will be monitored, etc. Yes, much of the work is sensitive and needs to be protected, but there is also an obvious lack of trust in the employees."

What don't you like about working at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory?

"While a lot of good work was done there, most was thrown away and promptly forgotten."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"The overhead is way too high -- fire 80% of the top managers and all of middle management. I went to work for a different government contractor where our top-tier talent costs the government half of what it would have at LLNL, and the average talent costs a quarter and the employee pay and benefits are better."
