The International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers is a trade union representing approximately 120,000 members in the United States and Canada. Better known by its shortened title, the International Association of Ironworkers was born in Pennsylvania in 1896 in response to rapid industrialization that often endangered the lives of skilled craftsmen. The union headquarters are now located in Washington, D.C. where the organization is dedicated to obtaining improvements in working conditions, healthcare, salary, benefits and other terms of employment for iron workers.

The International Association of Ironworkers has been a major player in commercial construction in North American, and its members have been involved in monumental projects such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Freedom Tower, the World Trade Center and the St. Louis Arch. The union publishes its own magazine, The Ironworker, and organizes highly respected apprenticeships to offer novices on-the-job training and direct mentoring from veteran craftsmen.
