Working at Heinfeld, Meech & CO., P.C. in Tucson, AZ: 1 Employee Reviews

Heinfeld, Meech & CO., P.C. Employee

"I have worked for Heinfeld Meech and Co. P.C. for over 5 years. In that time, I have seen some ups and downs, we have had very profitable years and a few lean years in the down turn. Through it all, the firm has always provided decent bonuses, even at the sacrifice of partner profit. The general attitude of all the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Diverse personality types, races, genders, etc. are all made to feel welcome. We have a great deal of autonomy in our jobs with as much flexibility as any accounting firm can offer. The training offered by the firm is outstanding and it is easy to obtain your required CPE. All accounting staff are required to meet the same training requirements regardless of their certification. Non-accounting staff are also provided with training opportunities to match the work they do. There are some downsides to working in public accounting. This job does require travel to a greater or lesser degree depending on the office you work in. There are quite often long days, and during the busiest times of the year there is weekend work expected and needed. Average hours worked per week is about 43 to 45 with summers being much less than that and winters being more. Travel is generally within the state with a very few jobs being in New Mexico. The firm pays for all travel costs including rental cars or mileage. Audit teams travel generally in at least pairs or sometimes small teams with consultants generally traveling alone. Many of my best memories have been made during after hours dinners and other events with my audit team mates. We have gone to movies together, happy hours and amazing dinners. Not all of the locations are "nice", some are remote areas and many are in economically depressed parts of the state. If this depresses you, it may not be a good fit to work here. Overall, especially for work in public accounting, this is one of the best companies I have ever worked for."
