"I have worked with the Florida healthy department for 3 years. The atmosphere among coworkers is wonderful. As a state job, pay is not big but benefits compensate. It is the ideal job for someone working toward retirement I would recommend working here if you are on your mid 40’s as it will be more beneficial for you than starting."
"Worked with the Florida Health Department since March 2020. I enjoyed the experience and knowledge attained. I was able to analyze a lot of health dynamics in reference to COVID-19. Unfortunately, the position was an OPS position and the contract is only temporary."
"Working for the State of Florida for 15 years. I worked at the Department of Financial Services, Department of Children and Families and Department of Health. There has not been a pay raise in over 10 years. Some supervisors were wonderful and the job was great then there are some that were just miserable. So everything is going to be average."
"We definitely could use more staff to work more efficiently. But I love working for the community to ensure and promote the health of populations."
"Good company to work with if you are fresher."
"Nice place to work with many opportunities to implement Project Management theories."
"State employer with good benefits but pay is less than private companies. My experience with them was mixed. Office politics and "management pets" are definite challenges. If you want to be a long term employee here, keep your head down and please the right people."
"Florida Department of Health is a good place to work but they lack the necessary funding to keep good people on the payroll."
"FL Dept of Health has a good working environment however being a bureaucracy things can be very aggravating as many challenges are presented in moving up and getting reasonable pay. I hope that one day FL DOH can realize how important IT is and start hiring good employees."
