"Worst mistake I ever made. Took a job at head office straight out of grad school, salaried but always on call, get calls at all hours of the day and night for trivial things and in 3 years have never worked less than 60 hours in a week even though I'm on salary and SHOULD only be working 40. Zero work life balance and horrible working conditions, everyone at head office except AVP's and up are forced to become conductors and get sent out to work on the trains and in the rail yards for weeks at a time, the conditions are horrible, working 12 hours night shifts in the freezing rain is commonplace. On top of all that, after years with this company including winning a CEO award (the highest internal award at CP) they will not give me a raise the most I've ever got was 2% and that was the year I won the award. ALL MY PEERS WHO GRADUATED WITH THE SAME DEGREE NOW MAKE TWICE AS MUCH AS I DO! From day 1 management constantly made a point to frequently say how lucky I am to have such a "good job" straight out of school, I feel very dumb for believing such an obvious lie!"
