Working at Cielo House in Moss Beach, CA: 1 Employee Reviews

Nurse

"Company Values: Employees are treated unprofessionally and disrespectfully. Clinical and ethical values of the company are questionable at best, and a potential reason for the company to shut down at worst. Contracts, employee onboarding, and paychecks are not timely, and employee happiness and concerns are treated with deferential dismissiveness. Management lacks transparency and does not accommodate basic employee needs like getting paid on time or getting paid overtime. When asking for contracts or pay, employees are likely to be ignored by the person who does HR (who adamantly states that HR is not her role). Advancement: Management prefers regular employee turnover to employee retention. The work environment is so unstable that there is little room for advancement, and always the potential of losing your job if you don't find yourself leaving for personal reasons first. There is always staff and client turnover for these reasons. A typical day at work: Management creates and prefers an unstable environment. Working with a high needs population with this preferred instability and direct lack of support creates a culture of fear, gossip, and a feeling lack of safety and support among staff. Very little is expected of employees on a clinical or professional level, however, employees are expected to manage emergencies, highly emotional situations, and crises daily. Coworkers and Culture: Many coworkers are generally professional and supportive, but there is a general culture of fear, mistrust, and gossip due to mistrust of management, and mismanagement of problem employees. Where certain personalities might be considered HR nightmares in a professional organization, here they are given free rein to micromanage, criticize, and act inappropriately towards others with no intervention from HR (that is not HR). Overall, I would recommend getting experience elsewhere. Save yourself the stress, headaches, unhappiness and ill treatment."
