Working at Chicago Childrens House in Chicago, IL: 1 Employee Reviews

Chicago Childrens House Employee

"The teachers at this daycare were great to work with! Management, on the other hand, is a different story. They are known for shady behavior and neglect of the upkeep of the daycare. They were informed about an uncovered wall socket in one classroom during an inspection. Management expressed an attitude about taking care of the problem and never did. I had to tape over the wall socket just to keep the kids from bothering it. There was also a part of the baseboard that was coming undone in that same room. The issue was brought to management and it was ignored. I had to tape up the baseboard to the wall so that the toddlers in that room would not chip at the paint and put it in their mouths! There are also times when the smell of marijuana fills areas of the daycare. Which is dangerous for babies and toddlers to inhale. Secondhand marijuana smoke contains hundreds of chemicals just like secondhand tobacco smoke. This is dangerous for babies and toddlers developing brains! Disinfectant spray was used to "mask" the smell but is also considered dangerous for inhalation my babies, toddlers and children. Of course the parents were never informed of this ongoing problem. Which isn't too far off of the managements agenda to keep the parents uninformed about the daycare's issues and hazards. Management often talks negatively about the parents and their children anyway. Many people agree that this daycare should be shut down because of its inadequacies and managements neglect of these issues among others. The owners only motivation is money which prevents any real caring."
