Brooks Brothers Careers & Info

Current CEO: Ken Ohashi

Status: Active

Brooks Brothers has been providing clothes for people for nearly 200 years. It began in 1818, when Henry Sands Brooks decided to open a clothing store that would combine high quality merchandise with prices that people would be able to afford. He gave the company the name H. & D. H. Brooks & Company. After Brooks’ sons, Elisha, Daniel and John took charge of the company in 1850, the company received its current name, Brooks Brothers.

In its beginning, Brooks Brothers concentrated on making the suit available to people in Manhattan. As time went by, they began to expand the types of clothing they produced, including uniforms for the National Guard and the Army during the Civil War. After the company was sold to Julius Garfinckel & Company in 1946, Brooks Brothers began to expand with 10 stores being opened across the country.

Working at Brooks Brothers means that people are dealing with a product that has a history, and the company continues to work hard to impress its customers. The store has received several excellent reviews on how well people work together. The employees enjoy their work environment immensely, and this fact has a lot to do with the fact that the managers and the sales associates believe in the product.

The Brooks Brothers culture is highly concerned for its employees, especially those in entry level positions. Whenever they have a complaint of any kind, they may feel free to inform their supervisors.

People have several opportunities to choose from in the retail industry when they choose Brooks Brothers careers. They may apply to become:

• Store Manager • Selling Supervisor • Assistant Store Manager • Planner • Professional Sales Associate • Loss Prevention Investigator

Brooks Brothers benefits make working at this company worthwhile. Among these benefits is the succulent 50 percent discount offered to all employees on all merchandise. Another benefit is the ability to earn bonuses. When people continue to sell a high volume of merchandise for three months, they will be entitled to receive a bonus on their commissions. If they aren’t able to do this, they don’t have to worry that they won’t be able to earn enough to live; people who sell less than the amount that is needed to earn commission will still be able to receive an hourly wage.
