"Like any company, there are pros & cons, great co-workers & managers and the not so great. It is a company you can be proud to work for. It is amazing to know how much of our world is touched by the products of Boeing. It's sad that they have layoffs & strikes so frequently though."

"The people I worked with, the instant recognition, awards, and the short commute."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"If you're not going in for a manager position, hope you like going on strike every few years. The people who actually do the work are good, it's just dealing with the ongoing micromanagement that's the buzz kill."
What don't you like about working at Boeing?
"It's being run by micromanaged bean counters who don't have an original idea for day-to-day operations (they keep harping on 5S and Toyota Production System) and continue to insist on a work smarter mentality, while throwing more hurdles in the way of progress. The Chicago Corporates are concerned with only one thing... Share Holder Value - they don't care about any employee relations at all."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Stop following every trend that comes from Toyota, cut costs from the top instead of the bottom, tell Everett upper management to stop acting like they have total control over Renton."

"Full time hours, benefits, short commute to work, paid vacation and sick leave, automatic holiday vacation from Christmas to New Year's Day."

"Do your job to the best of your abilities, but watch your back too."

"Micromanagement, toxic work environment, lack of promotion, lack of work."

"Quit micromanaging, stop the hostile attitude towards the unions, understand that just because things work one way in Everett, Renton does things differently for a reason."

"I got to work with state of the art equipment and older systems. I was largely autonomous in my choice of tasks."

"Tell the truth. The interview is largely an ethics test. Go easy on them. They aren't accustomed to interviewing."

"The lack of hand tools forced each of us to purchase our own. Outdated and unreliable test equipment was difficult to work with."

"Update test equipment and purchase hand tools. Provide access to showers."
