1High TURNOVER Rate -- The Finance team's 2017 YTD turnover rate is ~50% and that excludes the Planning LAYOFFS earlier in the year. It's not uncommon for employees to basically get fed up and resign without job opportunities lined up, which says a lot about the current leadership in place. If you are unfortunate enough to interview with this department, I strongly encourage you to ask (1) the YTD number of Finance resignations (and use your judgment to determine if this is extremely high or not), (2) the reasoning for the recent turnover, (3) description of the work conditions that would cause the high turnover, (4) the average tenure among Finance employees (use your judgment to determine if this is short or not), (5) how many Finance employees have been hired from a third-party recruiting company just to get heads in seats out of fear of future resignations, (6) the number of internal Finance promotions this year (use your judgment to determine if this is low or not; if low, ask why and what they are doing to mentor and grow their staff, (7) the required number of weekends per year and average hours per week put in by the Finance team, and (8) their strategy on retaining good, hard-working Finance professionals (look for a statement regarding strategy change, as their current strategy isn’t working and hasn’t worked). I’m confident that your decision to join this company will be made once the interviewers openly discuss this information. Failure to disclose this information is a direct attempt to mislead candidates. Any candidate that accepts an offer will eventually discover the...
2.5It was definitely entry level job but I am glad I accepted the contract offer to do this work considering tough economic environment. I had to take humongous pay cut and the testing sprint finished promptly and testers were laid off.
4.5Blue Nile is a fantastic place to work, especially on one of their development teams. Things move fast, so it's never dull but sometimes a little out of control. The programming is fairly basic so at times you may feel a bit code-monkeyish.
