Bendix Corporation was founded in 1924 by Vincent Bendix when he gave Eclipse Machine Company the right to use a drive part invention that he had created. The company developed this invention into a triple thread screw that ultimately led to the development of various drive parts. Later that year, General Motors purchased a 24 percent interest in the company so that it could maintain contact with these engineering developments. Bendix Corporation also acquired Bragg-Kliesrath, a braking company in the last 1920s.
