Bed Bath & Beyond Careers & Info

Current CEO: Mark Tritton Status: Active

Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. was founded by Leonard Feinstein and Warren Eisenberg in 1971. Ten years of retail experience helped them form Bed ‘n Bath, a specialty chain of linen and bath shops in New York. To set themselves apart from the competition of other specialty stores, in 1985 Feinstein and Eisenberg opened their first superstore. More than ten times larger than the original Bed ‘n Bath, the new 20,000-square-foot store offered an extensive home furnishing line along with the established line of linens and bath products. In 1987, Eisenberg and Feinstein changed the name of their store to Bed Bath & Beyond to better reflect their superstore model.

By early 2011, the number of Bed Bath & Beyond stores had increased to 1,141, which include 984 in the 50 states, Canada, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Also, there are 157 acquired stores: Christmas Tree Shops, buybuy Baby, Harmon or Harmon Face Values. Recently, Bed Bath & Beyond became partners in a joint venture operating two stores, Home & More, in Mexico City.

Bed Bath and Beyond careers are an interesting and satisfying experience with such an innovative company. For example, those working at Bed Bath & Beyond appreciate the decentralization of all aspects of management. Store management can cut prices to meet local competition or to try other marketing plans upon consent of the district manager. Furthermore, the store departments can be expanded, or they can be reduced, as needed, in response to supply and demand.

The Bed Bath & Beyond culture is relaxed due to the low stress management practices. The unique approach to customer service and their entrepreneurial structure makes them different from other retailers.

The Bed Bath & Beyond benefits include, but are not limited to:

  • work/life balance
  • new employee competitive base pay
  • full-time associates receive generous salary options
