"There are things to criticize and improve, but it was an excellent experience, with a lot more good things than bad."

What do you like about working at AT&T?

"As a marketer I had full access to general consumer and customer information as no other company that I have been associated to. The team was open to suggestions and peers were accessible at all times to support strategic and tactical guidelines for a product or target. Excellent work atmosphere."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Final decision is of the supervisor (I was recruited by BellSouth not AT&T, so it may be different now), and one interview with Director and Sr Director was enough to get the job. Stay on the subject, they need to get back to work. Show your perseverance to get things done, they understand the prevailing atmosphere and require you to be able to go through red tape."

What don't you like about working at AT&T?

"It is an acronym heavy environment, therefore the initiation process can be brutal. There is traditional rigidity, although it was more prevalent in other areas than mine. To many hands in the same plate will keep the evolutionary process at a slow pace."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Less people with more responsibility assigned to each manager on strategy and creativity. Eliminate duplicity of functions of an advertising, marketing and media team in place."

Associate Director at BellSouth
in Atlanta, GA

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"BellSouth no longer exists, but it provided without question the best atmosphere and professional opportunities that I have ever been a part of."

What do you like about working at BellSouth?

"It was very serious about the business of business. Information sharing was a key point of its success; number of meetings, although sometimes overwhelming, were always conducive to information based decision making."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"AT&T is in a very tight situation with its unions and its profit performance. Interview with a focus on how to build profits structures throughout. Creativity is of minor interest, although much needed at AT&T."

What don't you like about working at BellSouth?

"It was weak in its projection of a major business entity outside of its narrow area of influence, thus became an easy target to AT&T, a tarnished brand with little to offer in terms management and creative leadership guided by a rational profit strategy."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"It does not exist, but it should have projected itself better nationally; showing its strength and value, while protecting one of its major brands (shared with SBC), Cingular. Based on going research at BellSouth, it was clear that Cingular and BellSouth were stronger brands than SBC and AT&T."

Associate Director at Hanbleceya House
in San Diego, CA

What do you like about working at Hanbleceya House?

"I had a chance to hone my clinical and management skills."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be prepared to face a challenging three tiered interview process. First you must convince the Director that you have the training, skills, character, and mindset to join the team. Secondly, be prepared to be interviewed by all staff and interns so they can get a feel for how you might be to work with in this unique and intensive treatment setting. If you have made it through the first two interviews (and still want to work there), you will be invited to a community meeting to be interviewed by all of the clients, many of whom are psychologically very sophisticated and have mastered the professional jargon. You may believe you are talking to a mental health care professional, but in fact be talking to a patient."

What don't you like about working at Hanbleceya House?

"The client population we served was difficult and staff intensive. I was functioning as the owner and director and all that entails, and was keeping a client load of my own. I cannot say that this is a reason to not like working at Hanbleceya, just that it was an unremitting source of stress, and after several years I decided it was time to seek other healthcare challenges."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Keep true to the treatment philosophies, traditions, and exceptional level of care. Also, make sure you take care of yourself and recognize client and personal limitations."
