Assistant Teacher
in Cincinnati, OH

What do you like about working at YMCA?

"Working with certain staff members, working and bonding with the children of all ages, planning and organizing the events for staff/parents and children to get involved in, and it's open five days a week and off the weekends."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Yes. Just go in there and present yourselves as the candidate they are looking for the position, and answer questions and examples to the best of your ability. First impression is always the best impression!!"

What don't you like about working at YMCA?

"No compensation, no position growth, not enough (MANDATORY) meetings that are not held on a regular basis to get staff's attention on what needs to be completed within the center and the children/parents itself. Students who are working on a SEASONAL basis which are coming back or graduating from school should be offered a great opportunity within the organization and that should offered to anyone who wants to expand to the next level. Directors within the center should take full responsibility for actions that are taken place in/out of the daycare facility. Why is that? So that it can be a safe and happy environment for the staff, parents and children."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Management needs to be more involved within all of the Greater Cincinnati YMCA facilities at hand. They need to do a monthly evaluation to make sure that directors and staff members are meeting the criteria needs that are accomplished by deadline. Benefit/compensation packages should be offered without any hesitation for YMCA staff at 100%, not 50%. That includes Maternity Leave benefits!! Also, equal raise pay should be offered based on evaluation/performance within the classroom settings to meet standards of higher positions and so forth. There should be absolutely ZERO tolerance for disrespecting YMCA staff and parents, children that are part of the YMCA family. Staff members and directors should be treated equally no matter what color, race, or creed you are. Parents should also attend to at ALL times including 100% customer service, communication 24/7 regarding events, payments, status of the children in the classroom that they are assigned to, and most importantly, respect."
