"The company is a very solid and lasting business, which traces back to the British settlement in northern Canada, serving mostly First Nation communities. NWC has 3 major segments: Canada, Alaska, and the Caribean/Pacific. The latter is the growth vector, while the other two are more stable but solid businesses. Even though NWC faces the same challenging retail environment, it suffers less than conventional retailers, since it's business units tends to serve more remote regions where competition is usually less intense. Still, competition is increasing as even more remote areas are becoming more accessible over time."
