What do you like about working at Genentech?
"good benefits,most facilitites are well build,commute system, vacation time is also ok"

What don't you like about working at Genentech?
"I worked at Genentech for 4 yrs in the Molecular Biology Department. Quickly after being hired I discovered that the group of scientists I was working with were extremely unhappy. Interestingly, these employees were very happy with the company as a whole. The Managing Scientists running my lab were unethical, inhumane, and untrustworthy. It was one of the most difficult situations I have ever experienced. My colleagues discovered, over time, that the Managing Scientists running this lab had not only been fired from their previous company, but that they had had an entire lab before our lab at Genentech, and all of these employees either quit or were moved into other labs within Genentech. My lab went through the process of attempting to discuss the issues with our bosses directly, but that only made the situations more grave. Especially for certain vocal people. Once nothing was done, we went to the Vice President of Molecular Biology to have discussions with him, but still nothing was done. Soon after meeting with the VP of MB, certain people within the group, who were great associates, were placed on performance punishments. I was so appalled. People started becoming continuously sick (from the stress), but still coming into work. Finally people began quitting. It was horrible. The supervisors began hiring more people and they eventually quit too. It's been 2 years since I left and those Managing Scientist are still employed at Genentech, although I have heard that they are finally being forced to have limited numbers of employees. I simply cannot believe that Genentech, as company, would treat their employees so poorly. So many people were deeply affected by these Managing Scientists. Genentech is certainly not a perfect company (especially in their Research Division). Please be very, very careful who you work for and try to gauge the realistic attitudes of the laboratory personnel before accepting a position at this company."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"the ones who manage should be on those positions becuase of their proven ability to manage people, and because they are potentially ready to do the job of everyone they manage, not just give orders. LISTEN, LISTEN, LISTEN and offer justified solutions to work situations!!"

"there were a lot of good people working there and a bunch of interesting data"

"be happy with the position you are applying for and pray for a good supervisor. I've had both wonderful and not so wonderful bosses and it makes all the difference."

"there is not a lot of focus on career development. You tend to learn as much as you need to complete a job, but not enough to be competent in a new skill-set."

"there was not any connection between the different branches of the organization. They are working to fit that now, but its not moving fast enough."

"The teamwork discussion was not well organized. The team members need more communications."

"It would be better if we have a rating system and a merit promotion."

"It is very good already. To be honest, no suggestions at all."

"Good manager. Approaching candidates, interesting sales/marketing executives in life sciences sector and meeting clients in Interesting life sciences sector/products."

"Dont be impressed by their sales pitch of global operations yada yada. If you connect with one of the partners interviewing: try to understand what drives her/him and if you feel comfortable working under that person."
What don't you like about working at Korn/Ferry Int'l?
"Big ego consultants/senior client partners very protective of their accounts (of course) and working against each other in same local office/market. Sensitive and political organization, non-sharing of info, non-trusting, hierarchical, old fashioned, slow moving. No team environment, no vision just chasing accounts giving work a meaningless side."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Give staff more flexibility and trust in terms of working hours/location. Try to build stronger teams and avoid egocentric consultant mindset."
What do you like about working at University of Alabama?
"I have freedom to choose my own projects. The benefits are pretty good."

"Interview at Vanderbilt, Emory, University of Georgia, or a university somewhere else."
What don't you like about working at University of Alabama?
"Working at UAB is ok, but I feel a little rudderless and I do not feel ther is much opportunity for growth."

"I would communicate more. I would try to help my employees grow and achieve more."

"I find the environment to be very depressing with no windows and everything being gray. I would like to work in a more positive/alive environment."

"They are the only dog in town that does what they do so in order to survive the pool you have to learn to swim with them or you will drown."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Go in with both eyes wide open and listen more than talk and ask to see the duties for a day before committing. Talk with employees to get a mood check on the floor as morale tends to swing a lot (mostly negative)."
What don't you like about working at CoStar Group?
"I am a creative and outside the box thinker which does not cover well with the direction the company is in now and headed towards. They want a very cookie cutter atmostphere and that does not work for me."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Be more open and receptive to other thoughts and opinions. The work needs to be fun and the support needs to come from your manager or you will fail to hold onto people."
What do you like about working at Stevens Pharmaceutical Research Center ?
"Type of the work, support from the managers and thirst for the work. The work which we get covers all aspects like process development, validation, evaluation and QA."

"NO. I was selected based on interview which was appropriate and amazing experience."

"Low salary and no long term plan for success. Company is small so has its own restriction."

"Management should plan to develop and should look forward to expand the company."
