"If you are an advocate, want a challenge, and can work with limited resources in an innovative way this is the place for you."

"I've worked for Providence for 2 years, and in those 2 years have not been able to justify my continued employment with them. The hospital has a very cloak and dagger feel about all of the processes around employment, promotion, and any management process. Intra department relations are okay, but inter department relations could use work (It'd sure be nice to have HUCS to help with that). However, since most people only react with people inside their department this is okay with everyone, and most enjoy most of the people they work immediately with. Unfortunately this has led the majority of them to confuse a good place to work with a good hospital. This makes it hard to bring corrections or new ideas to peoples' attention because everyone is sure everything is fine, and then you become the problem for pointing it out. We used to be run by nuns and still have church decorations everywhere, so everyone assumes we must be good, but it definitely seems for show when more time/money is spent on decorations than practicing the values. For now I'm biding my time, but being ranked in the bottom 1/6 of hospitals I don't feel comfortable lingering too long. (Also the pay is on par with average, thanks to the union, not great, not bad.)"

"I have worked for Providence Health and Services for 9 years. The first 6 years were enjoyable but there has been a significant shift in values in the last 3 years. It is evident that "profits" are more important than the "Core Values". The quality of food, supplies, staffing, management have all decreased. The morale at The Mount is very poor and the treatment of staff by supervisors has resulted in several excellent staff members, who had worked there 20-30 years, to quit their job. When concerns are voiced the feeling is that management only says what they think we want to hear and therefore no changes are made and status quo is maintained. I would not recommend this place for employment."

"Providence Holy Cross Medical Center is a great place to work for all health care providers. Everyone works together as a team. Managers and supervisors listen to staff members to improve the work place. Physicians and nurses provide the best care I have seen in the hospital setting."

"I worked for the Providence College IT Department all four years of my education at PC. I can not imagine a more accepting and fun place to work. Everyone is on the same playing field and there is no discrimination."

"Working at the organization is good as the work life situation is very professional. The organization is going through many changes. Change management needs more attention to the details. There is a new leader at the company working in the department who is challenged with technology solutions. However my co-workers are the best aspects at the job. They make working there extremely fun as we take a daily break and do a golf putting contest to boost moral."

"I've worked for this company for almost nine years. It is one of the lowest paying hospitals. It is very disorganized. I would not recommend to work for this company as an employee. However, it is the department managers and co-workers that make it home. The best care is given to patients."

"I have worked in financial sales for almost two years, Before that I was doing collections for various companies. I learned how to communicate with people very well to set the tone of the conversation. Multitasking is a large key to customer service which I have been doing since I was in the military."

"Everything about my experience at The Providence Journal was outstanding. You couldn't ask for a better IT Director and staff. The work environment and end users were very friendly and fun. Unfortunately, due to the decline of printed media, opportunities for employment are very minimal and a future with the company is very uncertain."

"Providence is a non-profit mission based company, The company actively promotes and supports community events, the regional management highly encourages the staff to give back to the community but not on company time. The upper management does attempt to make decisions geared towards keeping their staff and avoiding layoffs/redundancies, sometimes the methods can be a little severe though."
